![]() Boarder on mountain road...
|
You can practice inline downhill with your friends or during competitions on the steep road of mountains. Downhill is a dangerous sport. Riders know them self that if they are crazy, they won't stay alive 5 years. And some of them understand, after a short "trip in emergency" that inline downhill is a serious sport where you need lot of concentration, training and technique. I started downhill 10 years ago when big events were "growing up" in the big town of France. It was the Urban Downhill Contest in the street of Paris, Marseille, Lyon or Lausanne. It was great, TV, lot of people, big sponsors, etc. It was a mix between downhill and freestyle with some jumps, box, swimming pool to jump, etc. If you want to buy downhill inline you have to go in a shop and buy parts by parts and build your blades. Riders are using 5 wheels inline for a better speed and control. The wheels size is around 90 millimetres. Wheels can be hard or soft, it depend on the tar.

![]() Inline/ski, same position & technique. |
The technique is a bit like skiing. The schuss position is the same one and the corner technique is the same too. But it's getting more complicated to stop. Deferent techniques. The easiest one is the snowplough; like when you ski. Or much more difficult, the slide. Like skiing, you are going to put your blades across the road, but it's 100 times more difficult. Falling on snow is more pleasant that the concrete. |

The rules? There is a downhill French Federation for gravity sports. There is a French Cup with 5 or 6 events everywhere in France during the summer. We also have an international circuit: EDI. There are also lot of non official competition too. If you
want to register, you have to py an enter fee and you must
wear protections, helmet and back protection for racing. You
